The Soup Peddler, David Ansel, was put to work in the kitchen at a young age.

He began the Soup Peddler from his home in South Austin, and within a few short years turned it into an internationally recognized business story.


He travels and eats. He's pictured above sampling some fine North Carolina soul food. He has eaten poblano rajas in Real de Catorce, crepes in Paris, pot pies in Northumberland, paella in Madrid, tandoori chicken in Zanzibar, stew in Lesotho, ugali in Dar es Salaam, biltong in Umtata, mofongo in Culebra, and barbecue in Clarksdale.
